Hello, we are Josiah & Katy Zimmerman, owners of The Mod Ant LLC. Before opening up our online presence as The Mod Ant we spent several years traveling the country doing bead, gem, and antique trade shows while having kids along the way. Some people would call us crazy but it’s always an adventure and you only get one life!
Specializing in mostly vintage, it is The Mod Ant’s mission to inspire and create jewelry designing pieces as well as offer vintage/antique jewelry that is passed down from generation to generation in order to spark joy and excitement into the life of creative individuals!
Josiah has always been a tinkerer at heart. As a young boy he loved taking things apart and putting them back together. Soldering is therapeutic for Josiah because he can focus on the task at hand and create something to be proud of. It is no surprise that a few years ago he found an interest in making lead free hand soldered pendants to inspire customers to take their jewelry to the next level. He spent hours and hours at his bench improving his craft and his journey speaks for itself.
In 2007, Katy graduated from St. Edwards University in Austin, TX with a Bachelor’s Degree in Entrepreneurship. While in college, she helped run “Bead It” in Austin, TX with her sister. She always knew that she wanted to own a creative business and inspire others to do the same. After college, she began her career in a small family business with her parents selling antique and vintage jewelry as well as vintage beads and findings. She has always had a passion for design, fashion, and turning what seems to be undesirable into a work of beauty. She enjoys taking all the photos on the site and spreading the variety of product on Instagram (@themodant) and Facebook.
